Designed to show the time in two different time zones simultaneously, the GMT-Master, launched in 1955, was originally developed as a navigation instrument for professionals criss-crossing the globe. The Rolex GMT is the jet-setting icon of the Rolex sports watch family. Like the Rolex Submariner, the Rolex GMT is sophisticated, rugged, and versatile.
In 1954 Pan Am started using the newly designed Boeing 707 which allowed for Pan Am to fly transcontinentally and is said to have started the commercially available jet age. In the same year, Rolex received a request from Pan Am to create a technical pilots watch which indicated two time zones simultaneously that could be issued by the airline to their crews on long-haul transcontinental international flights.
Pre-Owned Rolex GMT-Master (1675) self-winding automatic watch, features a 40mm stainless steel case surrounding a black dial on a stainless steel and gold jubilee bracelet with folding buckle. Date window at 3 o'clock. Circular hour indices and rectangular hour indices at at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, with minute markers on the outer rim. The hands of the GMT-Master 1675 are in the following order: GMT/Hour/Minute/Second. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, date and GMT.
