For Sale is Hamilton Fontainebleau Chrono-matic
The Fontainebleau line was Hamilton’s bold answer to the space-age era of the late ’60s. Crown-in-left automatic chronos were the talk of Baselworld 1969, and this Ref. 11001-3 houses the very first industrial automatic chronograph – Calibre 11 – jointly developed by Hamilton-Büren, Heuer, Breitling and Dubois-Dépap. The micro-rotor construction keeps the overall height surprisingly slim for a complication of this complexity. Our specimen retains its sharp factory bevels and the correct brushing on the hefty 46 mm cushion case. The dial has developed an even, attractive sandy patina that contrasts beautifully with the glossy black registers. Original tritium plots are intact and glow briefly under UV, confirming authenticity. The integrated bracelet shows light surface wear but zero stretch. Inside, the Cal. 11 has been freshly serviced; it winds smoothly, keeps time within ± 15 s/day and all chrono functions reset to zero. Pushers, crown and date corrector operate as designed. No aftermarket parts, no polishing – a true survivor piece ready for both the wrist and the watch roll. |
